Case Study: Christian Simpson Home Office

installation of bespoke home office furniture

The Witley Direct team were delighted to work with Christian on a project which saw us  transform his home office, creating a stylish and productive working environment that meets all of his needs, with ample desk and storage space.

What drove the need for this project?

The client’s old office was cluttered, tired and didn’t particularly suit their day to day needs – Christian splits his time working around the world and working from home.

The office didn’t also wasn’t catering for all of Christian’s electronic equipment; there wasn’t enough desk space, there were too many trailing leads and not enough filing cabinet space or linear metres of storage.

Based on these issues, Christian was looking to revamp his office space and enlisted the help of the Witley Direct team.

What did the project involve?

Planning

During the initial stages of this project, we discussed Christian’s need for the space and what he wanted from the furniture.

Christian wanted the desk to be a key feature of the space and due to the room being lucky enough to have a fantastic view of the Malvern Hills, the seating position for the desk, as well as its ergonomic design also needed to be a key consideration.

We also discussed the need for an effective cable management solution, particularly around the desk which needed to have plenty of legroom with space to accommodate a variety of electrical equipment.

A vented internet router and electrical cupboard was also required to ensure safety and to help marry up with the perimeter socket locations.

Christian also felt the room was a little on the dark side and thought injecting light through the furniture would help. We therefore integrated LED spotlights into the perimeter bookcases.

Design

Following this discussion, we created 2D and 3D images of how the office may look and presented them to Christian, welcoming his feedback.

A decision was then made on the materials, colours and finishes for the furniture, with Christian opting for a two tone approach of wood grain and plain colour, with the light tones of Chesil Oak helping to compliment the Toffee plain colour on the drawers and door fronts.

Manufacture and Installation

Our team manufactured and installed the furniture for this project within Christian’s home at a time to suit him, and all within 6 weeks of the final order confirmation.

We manufactured all furniture in line with the designs Christian had finalised, ensuring each piece was of the highest quality and all the agreed design features were incorporated effectively.

For the perimeter bookcases where lighting had been incorporated into the design, we utilised our in-house electrician to ensure we handed over fully PAT tested units that had ‘plug and play’ ability, to provide the downlighting that Christian had requested.

In regard to the desk, cables were increased in length to suit the existing socket positions and the finished piece was a truly stunning, yet practical centerpiece for the room.

Challenges

Due to the character and age of the house, it meant for quite uneven floors, so our team altered the design of the furniture, manufacturing all items with adjustable feet to help with levelling and to ensure the furniture fitted the space perfectly.

Client Feedback

“Great fellas, really enjoyed their company and extremely diligent and caring of the work they do. Incredibly impressive service in a world becoming increasingly short of it.” – some great feedback from Christian following the completion of this project.

The team were delighted to work closely with him, to transform his home office into a space that is both practical and visually aesthetic, perfectly meeting his wants and needs.
